THOMAS KYLE has been practicing landscape design, site planning and project management for over 20 years. He received his Bachelor Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of British Columbia and his Diploma in Fine Arts from the Victoria College of Art.
HE BELIEVES that the process of design requires step-by-step consultation, to clearly identify the client’s objectives and goals. He believes that these will be site, client, theme and architecturally specific. The coming together of all of these elements results in a project that truthfully reflects – and respects – both the client and their budget.
HE BRINGS his extensive, hands on experience to every project. He guides the process forward, and always remains focused on designing cohesive, integrated and beautiful living spaces, from 5 acre estates and waterfront properties to intimate backyards and green roofs.
THOMAS UNDERSTANDS how to collaborate with a team of professionals and is committed to both environmental stewardship and design elegance. He has worked with clients and architects from New York to Seattle and from Vancouver to Los Angeles.

We initially hired TKL-Design to do our garden in Crescent Beach BC in the form of a traditional English Perennial Style. I had recently completed the the Houzz form for some patio landscaping we need to have done. I received a call within just a few minutes from Thomas. I explained that our project was quite small and I didn't know if his team would even work on something so small. It turns out they don't but Thomas offered 15 minutes of suggestions including the types of shrubs to consider, what information to bring to the nursery and how to do the project myself. I first hired Thomas Kyle 25 years ago when he was studying Landscape Architecture at UBC. I saw magic in his designs, so I asked him to design the garden of my first home. Then 8 years later I asked him to design my second home, followed by the grounds at our corporate headquarters. Then 17 years later I asked him to lead a team of design professionals to completely redesign my home and grounds near Chuckanut drive overlooking the ocean. Again, he delivered magic. A sophisticated complex multi-million dollar project which he designed, managed and delivered with a strong sense of being perfect. Thomas Kyle helped us design our garden and select plantings for our 1912 Craftsman bungalow home, situated in a neighborhood of similar older houses. He almost magically created a beautiful, harmonious flow to our garden, giving us the privacy we needed but also accentuating the charm of our older home. We had a limited budget, which Kyle stayed well within. He selected a variety of native plantings and arranged them in such a way that transformed our small city lot into various intimate spaces, all the while keeping to a strong overall "English country garden" concept.
